This Winthrop project is all about making a great first impression. We gave this family home a complete exterior "facelift" by replacing the old driveway with exposed aggregate, adding a modern garage door, and installing vertical feature cladding. It’s a smart, effective way to add significant value to a property without the need for a full structural rebuild.
Sometimes a home has great "bones" and a layout that works perfectly for the family, but the problem is that it just looks a bit dated from the street. In a high-value, established area like Winthrop, your home's "street appeal" is everything. The owners of this property loved their location and their neighbours, but they felt their home was starting to look its age. They wanted a fresh, modern look that would make them proud every time they pulled into the driveway.
Our solution was an architecture-first approach to a facelift. We didn't need to knock down walls to make a massive difference. We started with the ground and worked our way up. The old, cracked driveway was replaced with new exposed aggregate concrete. We chose a mix with natural tones that looks fantastic and is incredibly durable—perfect for a busy family with multiple cars.
The result was a total transformation of the home's character. We upgraded the garage door to a sleek, modern design that integrates perfectly with the new facade. To give the entrance some real "wow" factor, we added new brick piers and a feature porch with a raking pine ceiling. This adds a sense of grandeur and height that the original home was missing.
One of the standout features is the vertical cladding we installed. It creates a contemporary, textured look that draws the eye upward and makes the house look much newer than it actually is. We also added a timber arbour with creepers at the entrance. As the greenery grows in, it will soften the modern lines and make the whole place feel warm, natural, and welcoming.
Each small update—the cladding, the new driveway, the feature porch—works together in harmony. The home now stands out for all the right reasons, fitting perfectly into the prestigious Winthrop landscape while feeling like a brand-new build.
