Watermans Bay | The Beachside Extension

The Ultimate Beach House: A Massive Coastal Extension

Located just off West Coast Drive, this Watermans Bay project added over 100sqm of extra space to a prized corner block. We used structural steel to open up the downstairs area for uninterrupted ocean views and added a resort-style master suite. A signature feature is the custom timber staircase, built by hand by our own local Perth team.

The Story

Living in Watermans Bay is all about the lifestyle; the morning walks along West Coast Drive and the salt in the air. This corner-block property was in a dream location, but the problem was the house itself. The layout was cramped, and for a home so close to the water, it felt surprisingly disconnected from the ocean. The owners needed more room for their growing family but didn't want to lose that classic coastal vibe.

Our solution was a massive 100sqm extension at the back of the home. This wasn't just about adding rooms; it was about reimagining how the family used their space. To really open things up, we integrated structural steel into the lower floor. This allowed us to remove the old, clunky internal walls that were blocking the view.

The result is an open-plan living zone where the beachside atmosphere flows right into the heart of the home. You can now feel the ocean breeze from the kitchen sink. The extension also provided two big new bedrooms and a stylish bathroom, making sure there's plenty of room for guests or family.

One of the parts of this build we are most proud of is the craftsmanship in the details. Because we are a family business, we love the "hands-on" stuff. Our carpenters built the timber staircase from scratch, in-house. It’s not just a way to get upstairs; it’s a centrepiece that adds warmth and character to the home’s coastal palette. We also gave the master suite a total makeover, turning it into a "wellness" retreat with a huge walk-in wardrobe and a bathroom that feels like you’re staying at a five-star resort every single day.

Outside, we finished things off with a new exposed aggregate driveway and custom retaining walls to handle the sloping block. It’s now a home that looks just as good from the street as it feels from the inside.

We often get asked:

How do I modernize an ocean-view home?

To modernize an ocean-view home, focus on "opening up" the floor plan. Using structural steel to remove internal walls allows for larger windows and a seamless flow between the indoors and outdoors. This maximizes natural light and ensures the ocean view is visible from multiple parts of the home, which is the key feature for properties near West Coast Drive.

Dont take our word for it. Take theirs.

Our customers are at the heart of everything we do, and we’re honored to have earned their 5-star trust.
